Whoever named the Las Vegas Ranch knew what they were talking about. In Spanish, las vegas means the meadows, aptly named for the ranch's lush pastures which are rare in other property for sale in Arizona.
Located 17 miles northwest of Prescott, Arizona, at an elevation of 4,600 to 5,100 feet, the Las Vegas Ranch sits in the very heart of Williamson Valley and covers many sections of the most beautiful land in northern Arizona real estate. The valley is "sub-irrigated" with abundant groundwater, as evidenced by numerous springs and artesian wells. Elk, deer, antelope, javelina, eagles, hawks, and herons abound.
The Pierce family, led by Delbert Pierce, purchased the ranch in 1959. In 1973, his son, Steve Pierce, graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in animal science. After college, Steve married Joan Reed and came home to continue the family tradition of ranching. That's when the Pierce family purchased the adjoining Seven V Ranch, the historic northern Arizona property where Harold Bell Wright worked as a cowboy and wrote the best selling novel When a Man's a Man. Today, the ranch runs a commercial Hereford/ Angus cross herd, a registered Hereford herd, and a registered Angus herd.
Through the years the Las Vegas Ranch has received many awards for its cattle, including over 45 Champions and Reserve Champions, from the Arizona National to Denver's National Western Livestock Show. In addition to many honors in the cattle business, Las Vegas Ranch is a recognized leader in range management and land stewardship. The Pierces preserve and protect the ranch's environment because they know future Pierce generations are dependent on the quality of their management decisions. Twice the Society for Range Management has awarded the Las Vegas Ranch the Range Manager of the Year award for Arizona. In 2005, the Arizona Game and Fish Commission awarded the ranch the Wildlife Habitat Stewardship Award. And in 2006, the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies of the United States, Canada, and Mexico honored Steve Pierce and the Las Vegas Ranch with the 2006 Private Lands Fish & Wildlife Stewardship Award.
LV Ranch Estate's 4,900 acres were carved from the northwest portion of Las Vegas Ranch, which includes some of the finest rural Prescott, Arizona real estate in Williamson Valley. An exclusive private roadway easement for ingress and egress allows LV Ranch Estate owners to traverse some of the prettiest parts of the Las Vegas Ranch when coming and going, while saving several miles of driving to boot!
In planning and building Las Vegas Ranch Estates, unlike typical Arizona ranches for sale, we applied the same principles the Pierces followed in improving and managing their award-winning ranch; respect for the land and a commitment to do things right, for the long haul.
