World’s Oldest Rodeo – Running Since 1888

Visit Prescott, Arizona every summer to see the self-proclaimed “World’s Oldest Rodeo” beginning in June and culminating in a Fourth of July extravaganza. Bull and bronco riders from all over the country converge in Prescott, AZ to try their hand at taking home the grand prize as the region’s best bull rider. Your family will be entertained by all of the events that are a part of the larger “Frontier Days” celebration. Along with the rodeo, there is an annual golf tournament, 10k run and commemorative parade, celebrating the cowboy lifestyle and its influence on the northern Arizona town of Prescott.

Annual Arts & Crafts Fair, Featuring Nearly 200 Artisans from the Southwest

The annual “Faire on the Square” is one of the largest gatherings of artisans in the Southwest. Painters, sculptors, and craftsmen from Prescott, AZ and beyond gather to display their art, raise awareness about the local community and enrich the lives of those who attend the event. Spending Labor Day at the Faire on the Square is a great way to close out the summer and soak in the local culture from around the region. Often times, proceeds from any purchased artwork is donated directly to charities or to the local community, encouraging a growth of and love for the arts in and among the Arizona town of Prescott.

Annual Lighting of the Courthouse & Holiday Parade

Witness the joys of a small-town Christmas. Every year the Yavapai School choir serenades visitors with Christmas carols and a reading of the Christmas Story, all building up to the lighting of the courthouse. The historic building is lit up with thousands of Christmas lights, making it center point of the plaza for the remainder of the holiday season. You and your family will never forget the Christmas you celebrated in Prescott as you witness the Christmas lights and the ensuing holiday parade. The parade consists of bands, floats and animals, all celebrating the rich history of Prescott and the joyous Christmas season.

Annual Fine Art Festival Featuring Local Prescott Artists

Every year as spring comes to a close, the Mountain Artists Guild holds their fine arts festival. For over 60 years, the Mountain Artists Guild has been Prescott’s leading art organization, hosting annual events, showings, and festivals. All of the artwork on display from the Mountain Artists Guild is available for sale unless specified otherwise. This is a great event to attend for it’s southwest saturation of tradition and culture. Some of Prescott’s finest artisans have their work on display for you to browse and purchase. If you are not in the market for buying art, you can simply attend to soak in the culture, chat with the local artisans and support the community.
